Founding conference for the establishment of a nursing chamber in Rhineland-Palatinate
"Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come" (V. Hugo).
In 2013/14, the office of the founding conference for the establishment of a nursing chamber in Rhineland-Palatinate was based at the university. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate initiated the project to accompany the legislative process. The core tasks were the preliminary planning of the new chamber and public relations work. The aim was to inform nursing professionals in the state. Details on the structure of the first German nursing chamber can be found in the book Kuhn, A. (2016) , which was written in parallel to the establishment process: Die Errichtung einer Pflegekammer in Rhineland-Palatinate. The missing building block for professionalization. More than 250 information events were coordinated from Ludwigshafen throughout the state and beyond. This made it possible to "reach over 11,000 carers, enter into direct dialog with them and listen to their wishes, demands and fears" (Kuhn 2016)
More in-depth details on the information campaign can be found in the evaluation of the information campaign of the founding conference for the establishment of a nursing chamber in Rhineland-Palatinate, an interim report that was produced in October 2014, when the campaign had not yet been fully completed and some events were still missing. And today:
"Germany's first nursing chamber has been established in Rhineland-Palatinate. We are doing pioneering work - not only for the 40,000 nurses in our state, but for all those who follow us. Our aim is to speak for ourselves and our members with a "strong voice": Because it's time for us to speak for ourselves - in politics, in public with and for us" (Rhineland-Palatinate State Chamber of Nurses homepage)
