International cooperation for nursing care in Rhineland-Palatinate

Bern University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland

Department of Health, Nursing Program

The Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), Department of Health, Nursing program, is involved as a cooperation partner of the BGM project PRO*PFLEGE (Nursing Ethics - Health Promotion - Professionalism). It supports the research network Health of the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen.

The Department of Health at the Bern University of Applied Sciences offers teaching, research and continuing education in the fields of nursing, physiotherapy, obstetrics and nutrition and dietetics. It also conducts research and teaches on health economics, aging, participatory health care and interprofessionalism. In recent years, the department has experienced growth in student numbers, as well as in organizational units. The Department of Health is one of the largest departments at BFH, with approximately 270 employees* and 1500 students.

The planned health management project PRO*PFLEGE also addresses BFH's concerns to a large extent: "Occupational health management for nursing staff is a great need for us. Health promotion through ethical support helps to increase professionalism in nursing and contributes to the health of nursing professionals. The BGM project PRO*PFLEGE can be an effective instrument for securing the professional workforce. More resilient care professionals in care facilities pay dividends in terms of safety and quality of care. We want to live up to our social responsibility as an educational provider in the healthcare sector, and we understand this mandate for the nursing profession internationally as well," says Prof. Dr. Monteverde, who supports and accompanies the conception and implementation of the PRO*PFLEGE teaching program. From the perspective of the project executing agency, a cross-national offering would also be conceivable for the future.
