#NURSESFORPEACE

The Health Research Network supports the International Council of Nurses' #NURSESFORPEACE initiative.

"The International Council of Nurses (ICN), the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN) and the European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations (EFNNMA), on behalf of 28 million nurses worldwide, strongly condemn the illegal invasion of Ukraine and the military attacks on the Ukrainian people. We call for an immediate ceasefire, an end to all hostilities and the start of intensive diplomatic negotiations to secure peace.
Nurses and other health care workers provide care and treatment to all people in need of care without fear or favor: they must be allowed to do their work protected from threats and violence, and the health care facilities in which they work must be protected from harm. International regulations and the Geneva Convention on the protection of health facilities and health workers must be respected and enforced.
The people of Ukraine must receive the humanitarian assistance to which they are entitled under international agreements, and they must have easy access to the vital equipment, medicines, and supplies necessary to treat all their medical needs, including injuries and illnesses. War refugees must be granted the right to free passage, and they must be provided with medical care and assistance during their journey and when they reach a place of safety.
The world's nursing professionals demand that the health and well-being of the people of Ukraine be protected. This can only be achieved through lasting peace, because peace and health are inextricably linked." (ICN 2022, German translation of the Research Network Health).

The Research Network Health explicitly joins the initiative of the international nursing associations and declares its solidarity with our colleagues and the people in Ukraine. We ask all professional colleagues for support.
